Twenty coworkers at North American Stamping Group, a metal manufacturing plant in Tennessee, just won a $420.9 million jackpot together.
The group has been playing together for more than eight years, and Amy O’Neal says she thought they would ever have any chance to win. Purchasing the tickets has always been for fun. O’Neal, who actually bought the winning ticket, says the group purchases about $120 worth of tickets every Wednesday and Saturday to support education, as well as their state.
Kevin Southerland, one of the group winners, has no plans to stop working, although some of his cohorts feel the time is right to step away from their jobs. “All these people have always had a heart to help people and be there for people. We can do that if we don’t have any money. Now we can do more and help more. There’s going to be a lot of people blessed.”
The cash value of the jackpot sits at $254 million, and each coworker will receive about $12.7 million before taxes.
