John Heffron “I’m The Matchbox Twenty Of Comedy”

Last Comic Standing Winner John Heffron’s comedy appeals to everyone. Adults, grandparents, they’re all welcome and comfortable at his shows. That’s why he jokingly compares himself to Matchbox Twenty!

John says it’s not a Disney show but at the same time, he doesn’t use swear words just to use them. He tells a lot of “Remember when…” stories and F-bombs just wouldn’t make sense in his act. Not that he has anything against other comics who pepper their bits with curse words.

I feel the same way about comedy. It’s easier to make people laugh when you go dirty or cuss a lot but it’s kinda cheap and usually doesn’t have staying power. It’s way harder to be a clean comic but it pays off in the long run. Of course, raunchy comics can make me laugh as long as their material is funny.

John will be performing at the Addison Improv tonight through Sunday.
