These Spiders Have A “Rich Sexual Repertoire”

It appears that certain spiders are kinkier that you’d think. Scientists in Slovenia recently published a study on Darwin’s bark spider. The researchers observed a group of Darwin’s bark spiders in a lab over a two week period and discovered that the spiders have a “rich sexual repertoire” which includes male-on-female oral sexual contact “before, in between, and after copulations, even up to 100 times.”

However, that repertoire also includes “sexual cannibalism” where some females consume males after breeding. Unlucky. For more findings about the breeding habits of Darwin’s bark spiders (and even a video), get the full article here.
