As PayPal continues to dominate the online payment processing industry, Amazon has decided enough is enough. With the official announcement of the spread of Amazon Payments worldwide, it pretty much sets PayPal and other payment processors on their downhill roll.
Amazon launched its Amazon Payments Global Partner Program today, which will help e-commerce providers and developers integrate with Amazon Payments so their own merchants can offer the option to “Pay with Amazon” at checkout.
How does this hurt PayPal and other payment processing platforms? Amazon’s size and proven track record, means war against the competition. With Amazon Payments, merchants are able to tap into Amazon’s already existing 280 Million+ database of customers; which means a more trusted process, quicker checkout and ease of use.
