Mission To Mars Narrows Down Canidates
The Mars One mission goal is to send four people to Mars to establish a human settlement there.
According to CBS News over 200,000 people applied for the opportunity to live out the rest of their life on the Red Planet. Mars One has now narrowed the applicants down to 1,058 candidates.
The goal of the mission is to send the four people to establish the colony by 2023, and then additional teams will be sent to Mars every two years. These are all one way tickets.

“The next several selection phases in 2014 and 2015 will include rigorous simulations, many in team settings, with focus on testing the physical and emotional capabilities of our remaining candidates,” Norbert Kraft, Mars One’s Chief Medical Officer, said.
Mars One plans to broadcast a reality show of the potential Martians, in the hopes of raising funds for the mission.
“We fully anticipate our remaining candidates to become celebrities in their towns, cities, and in many cases, countries,” Lansdorp. “It’s about to get very interesting.”
