Beware where you film your next Harlem Shake video. 15 miners in Western Australia got canned from their jobs after their Harlem Shake video hit YouTube.
The miners were making six-figures working in a gold mine. While only 8 men can be seen dancing in the video, there were 7 others standing off-camera watching.
The mining company that sacked the workers, Barminco, called the stunt a safety issue a breach of its “core values of safety, integrity and excellence.” Barminco has also barred the former employees from being “subcontracted by Barminco at any site domestically and globally.”
The miners plan to appeal to be reinstated in their jobs and called the firing heavy-handed for what was just “a bit of fun.”
