Music festival season is heating up for classic rock fans. It was announced today (February 19) that Sir Paul McCartney and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers will headline Bonnaroo this June.

While Macca hasn’t headlined an American music festival since 2009’s Coachella, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers announced performances at Hangout Music Fest and Firefly Music Festival in just the last several days.

Recent GRAMMY darlings Mumford and Sons will serve as Bonnaroo’s third headliner.

Bonnaroo’s other lineup highlights include: Billy Idol, ZZ Top, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James with Hall & Oates’ John Oates (billed as the Soul SuperJam), R. Kelly, Wilco, Bjork, David Byrne & St. Vincent, Wu-Tang Clan and many, many more. Bonnaroo’s full lineup is below.

For the uninitiated, Bonnaroo 2013 takes place in Manchester, Tennessee, from June 13-16. The lineup was announced this afternoon by festival performer Weird Al Yankovic in a wacky live telethon dubbed #BLAM (Bonnaroo Line-Up Announcement Megathon) on Twitter.
The event streamed live on YouTube earlier today with live performances, fan participation (via Google Chat) and celeb appearances.

Bonnaroo 2013 passes go on sale this Saturday (Feb. 23) at noon ET. More information can be found on Bonnaroo’s official site.

Last year’s Bonnaroo was led by Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Phish. For coverage of last year’s Bonnaroo, head over to our sister station WXRT, the festival’s official radio partner.
