A few weeks ago, someone submitted a petition to the US government to build a Death Star. The government turned them down.

Now that the government has foolishly declined to move forward with the project, someone has put it on Kickstarter.

TechCrunch is reporting that the target funding goal for the project is around $30,000,000. At that point the people involved will create more detailed plans than the initial project placed on Kickstarter. The plan is to improve on the Death Star design from the Star Wars movies, so that it can’t be defeated by a one manned star fighter.

After the initial $30,000,000 the project would need for planning, the project leads would like to stretch their fundraising efforts to $850,000,000,000,000,000 (that’s 850 quadrillion) to start building.

The project estimates it can have planning and construction done by December of 2015. No word yet on what the rebels are planning for a counter effort.

You can pledge money to the project for yourself HERE.
