Last week geeks everywhere got excited when Disney announced they had purchased Lucas Film and plan to start making new Star Wars films right away, apparently Harrison Ford did too.
The actor has said he wants to return to the Star Wars series to reprise his role as Han Solo.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Mark Hamil (Luke Skywalker), and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) are all upbeat about the idea of returning to the Star Wars franchise.
This is a strange 18o from Ford who in the past has said that Han Solo, “As a character he was not so interesting to me.” Adding that he wanted the Character killed off in Return Of The Jedi, “I thought he should have died in the last one to give it some bottom… [but] George didn’t think there was any future in dead Han toys.”
George Lucas, Star Wars creator, has already written treatments for a new trilogy and given them to Disney, who plans to release a new film in 2015. In addition to the treatments, Lucas will also serve as “creative consultant” on the new films. He will not play an active role in the development of the films.
Rumors have about the new Star Wars trilogy have been flying around the internet, including director Matthew Vaughn (X-Men First Class) being attached.
Only time will tell, but for now there seems to be A New Hope in the future of Star Wars.
