William Keltner, a 52-year-old Abilene, Texas, man, was arrested for swapping barcodes on a tv and a cheaper item, and trying to buy the electronic device for less than $2.00.
KTXS is reporting that Keltner removed a barcode from a hanger worth $1.17 and put in on the TV worth $228.
He was detained in an office until police showed up to arrest him.
Keltner has been charged with state-jail felony theft, destruction of evidence and misdemeanor destruction of writing. Due to prior theft convictions, all of Keltner’s charges were enhanced.
It was such a fool proof plan, you know until he brought the TV to the register and it rang up as a hanger.
