Two of television’s most-watched political commentators will go head-to-head next month in a comic presidential debate.
The Daily Show‘s Jon Stewart and The O’Reilly Factor‘s Bill O’Reilly announced Monday they will tackle some of today’s hot-button issues in what is being dubbed “The Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium.”
The 90-minute live debate is set for October 6th at George Washington University in D.C. and will stream online for $4.95 at www.therumble2012.com. Half of the proceeds will be donated to charity.
In a statement released yesterday, Stewart jokingly said, “I’m excited to debate Mr. O’Reilly. I believe this will be a very enjoyable night for fans of our programs, political junkies, partisans and people who just enjoy yelling.”
Not one to be upstaged, O’Reilly told his viewers Monday night, “In order to illuminate the vital issues associated with the upcoming presidential election, Stewart and I will debate man-to-man, eye-to-eye. Well, not really. He’s a tiny guy.”
Both Stewart and O’Reilly have faced off before, as guests on each other’s shows.
