The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy has been accused of igniting the passion of women around the world, it actually ignited the anger of one British man.
He has been charged with assault after attempting to stop his girlfriend from reading the novels by assaulting her with steak sauce.
Time is reporting that when Emma McCormick read a passage from her copy of Fifty Shades of Grey to her boyfriend, Raymond Hodgson, he was less than pleased she was reading such a racy book. Hodgson, 31, later told authorities that he thought the book was “pornographic” and “distasteful” and didn’t feel it was appropriate for McCormick to read it.
Hodgson was so enraged by the situation that he drove to McCormick’s home armed with a bottle of steak sauce. The argument escalated until Hodgson pulled the top of the bottle and squirted McCormick in the face. Hodgson claims he wanted to show her what saucy really meant.
Authorities have charged him with common assault. According to officials he not only attacked his girlfriend with the condiment but also slapped her across the face. Hodgson has plead guilty, though he denies ever striking his girlfriend.
Judge over the case said, “Hodgson’s actions had clearly been intended to demean Miss McCormick.”
Hodgson has been ordered to pay $150 in compensation and cover her $130 legal costs. He has also been given a 6:00 pm curfew for the next month and a half.
