Today’s Throwback Video of the Day is [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Culture Club[/lastfm]’s “Church of the Poison Mind.”
We’d like to dedicate this to our mom, who always said [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Boy George[/lastfm] was too pretty to be a man.
After making waves with their debut album Kissing to Be Clever, Culture Club released the follow-up, Colour by Numbers, in 1983. The album was another international smash for the British band, selling 10 million copies worldwide and peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The first single, “Church of the Poison Mind,” was a Top 10 hit on both sides of the Atlantic. The song, an attack on the attitudes of certain churches regarding homosexuality, also featured backing vocals from [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Helen Terry[/lastfm].
