Grammy award winning musician, Jack White, has been hired by Disney to produce the soundtrack for a new film adaptation of The Lone Ranger starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.
The film will be directed by Gore Verbinski, and will feature Depp as Tonto and Hammer as John Reid.
The Hollywood Reporter reports thatThe Lone Rangeris adapted from the classic television series and is set to premier May 31, 2013.
This isn’t White’s first trip into cinema. He previously composed the theme song for the 2008 James Bond filmQuantum Of Solacestarring Daniel Craig.
White’s debut solo album,Blunderbuss,dropped this week, and his U.S. tour to support the album will kick-off May 15th in Nashville, Tennessee.
White also wants everyone to know that he is done with the White Stripes era in his life. When asked if he was open to performing any White Stripes on his tour, Jack responded, “I would probably say absolutely not. Absolutely no chance. I couldn’t see any reason to ever do that.” He continued, “I’m not the kind of person that would retire from baseball and come out of retirement the next year.”
