Today’s Throwback Video of the Day is [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Twisted Sister[/lastfm]’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It!”

Because we still don’t know what we want to do with our lives…

In 1984, Twisted Sister released their third studio album, Stay Hungry.  It was the heavy metal band’s most successful effort, selling over three million copies and peaking at No. 15 on the Billboard 200.

The single “We’re Not Gonna Take It” was a Top 40 hit, mainly because of its notable music video.  The video, which was directed by Marty Callner, was full of slapstick comedy and featured actor Mark Metcalf (Animal House) in the role of the “father.”

However, the video’s “violence” led to a public outcry, and the newly-formed Parents Music Resource Center placed it on the “Filthy Fifteen,” a list of songs they deemed objectionable.  Later, in ’85, Twisted Sister frontman [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dee Snider[/lastfm] testified against the PMRC in a U.S. Senate hearing.
