Today’s Throwback Video of the Day is [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Depeche Mode[/lastfm]‘s “Personal Jesus.”
It totally reminds us of that weekend we spent in Tijuana…
One of the most popular and successful electronic bands in history, Depeche Mode rose to international stardom in 1990 with their album Violator. It spent 74 weeks on the Billboard 200 and sold more than three million copies.
The single “Personal Jesus,” which was inspired by Priscilla Presley‘s book Elvis and Me, was Depeche Mode’s first U.S. Top 40 hit in five years, climbing to No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song’s gritty music video was directed by Anton Corbijn and filmed in Spain’s Tabernas Desert.
