Coroner Report Says Ronnie Montrose Killed Himself

Rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose, who performed with musicians like Sammy Hagar, Van Morrison, Boz Scaggs, and Johnny Winter, died last month in Millbrae, California at the age of 64.

Now the coroner has ruled his death a suicide.

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that San Mateo county coroner has concluded that Montrose took his own life last month.

His widow, Leighsa Montrose, told the paper that her husband was tormented by clinical depression for much of his adult life. She says he suffered from severe self-doubt that caused him to harshly evaluate his performances, even on nights audiences gave him multiple standing ovations.

Montrose says her husband left no suicide note.She is devistated by his decision to take his life, especially since he spent two years being successfully treated for prostate cancer.
