It is time to get to know your Angry Birds a little bit better.
Rovio, the Finnish company behind Angry Birds, the most successful mobile game ever, is planning to launch a series of short animations starring the most popular characters from the game.
Nick dorra, head of animation at Rovio, said the episodes will be about two to three minutes in length. He told audiences at MIPTV why the move to an animated series, “We want to be present on all possible screens.” He also mentioned the possibility of an Angry Birds film, “It’s in development, but it won’t be out in 2013 or 2014. You’ll just have to bide your time and watch our shorts!”
Lat year, Rovio hired former Marvel chairmen David Masel as a special adviser to help build the company’s entertainment strategy and transition to new platforms.
Dorra added that the animated series is about, “telling more engaging stories…and deeper thoughts, deeper feelings of the characters, such as, why are they always angry?” Rovio is planning a 52-episode series of animated shorts. Dorra said the company is in the process of developing a video app, and is hoping that the series will be available across all screens including mobile, PC and TV.
It appears the Angry Birds aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
