Legendary rockers the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Eagles[/lastfm] are among those who will be receiving honorary degrees this spring from Boston’s Berklee College of Music.

And to think, they didn’t even have to go to class.

In a commencement ceremony to be held May 12, Berklee College will present honorary doctorates to a handful of music industry figures.

Those set to receive the prestigious degree this year are the Eagles, Grammy-winning bluegrass artist [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Alison Krauss[/lastfm] and Ethiopian instrumentalist Mulatu Astatke.

The college has handed out honorary doctorates in music since 1971, and past recipients include [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Duke Ellington[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]David Bowie[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Steven Tyler[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Aretha Franklin[/lastfm].
