Elton John has just completed a new solo album called The Diving Board and Elton is pretty fired up about it. He’s not the only one.

Elton John is going back to a sound many of his fans are going to be familiar with. The three piece of piano-bass-drums from his classic early records. This one is a little different than his latest release The Union.
The Diving Board was recorded in just a matter of weeks in studio with T Bone Burnett in Los Angeles. The record, John says, is “the most exciting solo record I’ve done in a long, long time.”
John wasn’t really too jazzed about heading back in studio. “I was due to go back into the studio, but I didn’t know whether I wanted to go back in so quickly (after The Union),” he told Rolling Stone.
But once in studio he couldn’t stop the creativity. He wrote 12 songs in two days, laid them down in four days and used 10 of the songs for the final track list.
“It just came flooding out,” John said about the new songs. “Quickest record I’ve ever made. I’m as psyched about it as I was with The Union,” he says. “As I said with The Union, I had to go back to go forward, and it’s the same with this record.” The Diving Board is set to be released this fall.
