Michael Hossack of The Doobie Brothers, died Monday after a battle with cancer. He was 65.
According to the Lake County News he was surrounded by his family in Dubois, Wyoming where he was living for several years.

Hossack was born in New Jersey and he began playing drums as a teen. Years later he joined the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
After being in the service he planned to pursue a career in law enforcement. In 1969 a friend coaxed him into auditioning for a California band called Mourning Reign.
The group didn’t stay together long but in 1971 the Doobie Brothers asked him to join their band where he would play alongside drummer John Hartman.
