Tonight, hometown girl [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kelly Clarkson[/lastfm] will be rockin’ the stage at Grand Prairie’s Verizon Theatre!

So to get you pumped for the show, Jack FM is making “Since U Been Gone” our Song of the Day!

And just like Steve Carell, we, too, yell out Kelly’s name when getting waxed.

She is one of music’s biggest stars.

Born in Fort Worth and raised in Burleson, Kelly Clarkson captured our hearts in 2002 when she won the inaugural season of American Idol.  Just weeks after her win, Kelly’s coronation single, “A Moment Like This,” made history when it jumped from No. 52 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking the record previously held by the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Beatles[/lastfm] for the biggest leap to the top.

In April ’03, Kelly Clarkson released Thankful.  The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold two million copies in the U.S.  The single “Miss Independent,” co-written by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Christina Aguilera[/lastfm], was a Top 10 hit, and it earned Kelly a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Wanting to distance herself from the Idol label, Kelly parted ways with her management company and adopted a more pop-rock sound for her sophomore album, Breakaway.  Released in the fall of 2004, Breakaway was a huge critical and commercial success.  It debuted at No. 3 and spent 61 consecutive weeks in Billboard‘s Top 20.  Twelve million copies were sold around the world, and it remains Kelly’s best-selling album to date.  Breakaway also produced five hit singles: “Breakway,” the Grammy-winning “Since U Been Gone,” “Behind These Hazel Eyes,” “Because of You” and “Walk Away.”

After the underwhelming performance of her third album, the dark and rock-oriented My December, Kelly Clarkson returned to her pop roots for 2009’s All I Ever Wanted.  The move paid off.  All I Ever Wanted debuted atop the Billboard 200, her second album to do so.  Again, Kelly made Billboard history when her single “My Life Would Suck Without You” went from No. 97 to No. 1 in just one week.  The song was also a No. 1 smash in Canada, Hungary and the U.K., while “I Do Not Hook Up” and “Already Gone” were both Top 20 hits on the Hot 100 chart.

In October 2011, the Burleson native released Stronger, her fifth studio album.  Mixing elements of pop, rock, country and soul, Stronger landed at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and has already been certified gold in the U.S.  The album has produced two singles so far: “Mr. Know It All” and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).”  The latter recently became Kelly’s third No. 1 hit.

Following her concert tonight in Grand Prairie, Kelly Clarkson heads to L.A. for the 54th Annual Grammy Awards.  She and country star [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jason Aldean [/lastfm] will perform their nominated duet, “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”  The Grammys air Sunday night on CBS.

Check out Kelly and this recent acoustic performance of “Mr. Know It All.”  We just love the fact there’s a show in England called Loose Women.  What would Elisabeth Hasselbeck think…
