Two-time Grammy winner and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Stone Temple Pilots[/lastfm] frontman Scott Weiland has always had a soft spot for Christmas music. It was, after all, the kind of stuff he grew up listening to. So it should come as no big surprise that the rocker recently released his own album of holiday standards, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

The idea for the album began two years ago when Weiland performed “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Inspired by crooners like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Frank Sinatra[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bing Crosby[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nat King Cole[/lastfm], Weiland wanted to put his own spin on such classics as “White Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland,” “O Holy Night” and “The Christmas Song.” The result is an album that speaks to fans both young and old.

Scott Weiland is currently supporting The Most Wonderful Time of the Year with a handful of intimate concerts. His next show is set for this Friday night in Huntington, New York.
