Ahh spring, the weather is changing, the flowers are in bloom and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Depeche Mode[/lastfm] will hit the recording studio to work on a new studio album according to band member Andy Fletcher.
You heard correctly, slicingupeyeballs.com is reporting that Fletcher told an Italian interviewer that the band is planning a meeting in January with intentions of entering the recording studio in March.
The new album will be a follow-up to their 2009 release of Sounds of the Universe.
Since the members of Depeche Mode (Fletcher, Dave Gahan, and Martin L. Gore) completed their “Tour of the Universe” world tour in support of the album in February 2010, the band took some time off to take part in separate projects.
The band hasn’t completely been off the radar during their hiatus. They did release both a live album and DVD, a remix compilation, and a [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]U2[/lastfm] cover for the Achtung Baby tribute album since that time.
Fletcher also tells the interviewer that the band is looking to tour once the album is complete and for the next two years he is committed to Depeche Mode.
So be on the lookout here on jackontheweb.com or the band’s website for additional news or updates concerning the new album.
Preferably we would prefer if you stick to jackontheweb.com.
Hey, if you didn’t believe a word we said here, then maybe you’ll believe Andy Fletcher yourself. Here is the before mentioned interview, Italian subtitles and all.
