Rocker [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Scott Weiland[/lastfm] just released a new Christmas album entitled The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.
So, to get you in the holiday spirit, Jack FM is making the title track our Song of the Day!
And for the record, you now have 27 days to get us something AMAZING!!
With Scott Weiland as their flamboyant, yet troubled, lead singer, the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Stone Temple Pilots[/lastfm] have sold over 40 million albums worldwide, making them one of the most commercially successful bands of the 1990s. Sixteen of their singles have landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard rock charts, including the #1 hits “Plush,” “Vasoline,” “Interstate Love Song” and “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart.”
Following the breakup of STP in 2003, Scott saw further success as frontman for the band [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Velvet Revolver[/lastfm]. The band, made up of former [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Guns N Roses[/lastfm]‘ members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, released their debut album, Contraband, in 2004. The album was both a critical and commercial smash, peaking at #1 on the Billboard 200 and producing the Grammy Award-winning single “Slither.” Velvet Revolver’s second album, Libertad, was released in ’07. Shortly thereafter, Scott left the band.
2008 saw the singer reunite with his STP band mates for a 65-date North American tour, and two years later, they released their sixth album, Stone Temple Pilots. It sold nearly 62,000 copies its first week and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. The rockers from San Diego are currently in the early stages of production for their next album, which they hope to release sometime next year.
In addition to his work with the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, Scott Weiland has also enjoyed a somewhat successful solo career, beginning with the release of 12 Bar Blues in 1998. Just last month, Scott released his fourth effort, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. The album features traditional Christmas songs such as “Winter Wonderland,” “Silent Night,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” as well as the original “Happy Christmas and Many More.”
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year is currently available in stores, along with Scott’s 2011 autobiography Not Dead and Not For Sale.
Here are the Stone Temple Pilots performing “Vasoline” on a 1994 episode of The Late Show with David Letterman. And be sure to check out Jack FM‘s new book, 101 Creative Uses for Vasoline. #17 is our favorite!
