Beatles Letter To Mystery Drummer To Be Auctioned Next Month
A handwritten letter by[lastfm link_type="similar_artist_radio"] The Beatles [/lastfm]inviting a mystery drummer to an audition for that band has surfaced recently. Now it is set to be auctioned off in London next month for 9,000 pounds.
I don’t know the exchange rate for that but it sounds like aton of money. Get it? A ton.
In all seriousness that’s a little over $14,000, so if your interested you better bring your checkbook.
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Paul McCartney [/lastfm]wrote the letter on August 12, 1960 in response to an ad from a drummer in the Liverpool Echo newspaper. At the time Pete Best was sitting at the drums and it wasn’t known they were looking for a replacement drummer.
Paul wrote, “We would like to offer you an audition for the position of drummer in the group…You will, however need to be free soon for a trip to hamburg(expenses paid £18 per week (approx) for two months). If interested ring Jacaranda Club and aske for a member of The Beatles.”
The letter is set to be auctioned November 15th.
