Jack’s Song Of The Day: Todd Rundgren
Happy Labor Day!!
Jack FM can’t believe we actually have to labor on Labor Day.
We better be getting paid time and a half for this…
Today’s Song of the Day is [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Todd Rundgren[/lastfm]’s “Bang the Drum All Day.”
The song is from Todd’s 1983 album, The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect. The album peaked at #66 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart. Even though “Bang the Drum All Day” only reached #63 on the charts, it is one of Todd’s best-known songs. It has become an anthem of celebration and is popular at sporting events. In fact, “Bang the Drum All Day” is played at Lambeau Field every time the Green Bay Packers score a touchdown. The song has also been used in numerous video games and TV commercials, most recently for Carnival Cruise Lines.
On September 13, Todd Rundgren will release re:Production, an album featuring covers of songs he previously produced for other artists such as [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Grand Funk Railroad[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]XTC[/lastfm]. He is currently on tour in the Northeast and will be heading to Europe at the end of the month.
Here’s Todd performing his 1972 hit, “I Saw the Light.” And no, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That is [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Daryl Hall[/lastfm] with Todd. It’s from Daryl’s web show Live from Daryl’s House.
