You ever run across a band and think what the hell were they on when they picked their name?  Well, we did with a new alternative rock band that’s named [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Airborne Toxic Event[/lastfm].  We were so confused on their name that we made their latest single, ‘Changing’, our canción del día!

The Airborne Toxic Event formed five years ago in L.A.  They consist of Mikel Jollett (vocals, guitar), Steven Chen (guitar, keyboards), Anna Bulbrook (viola, keyboards), Noah Harmon (bass) and Daren Taylor (drums).

Now here at JackFM, we never do any research but we had to see what gave them the idea for their name.  So after a strenuous five second search at Last.fm, we found out they got their name from a section of the book White Noise, by Don DeLillo.

Then spending another five seconds going to Wikipedia.com, we found out the book was written in 1985 and follows a guy named Jack!  Sounds like a good read to us, that is if we read…

Anyways back to the band, they are known for a unique blend of string instruments and keyboards, along with a standard rock lineup of guitar, drums, and bass guitar.

They have already put out one album, with another one due this April!  The album is called ‘All At Once’ and earlier this month they dropped the first single called ‘Changing’.

Here is their most popular tune to date, it’s called ‘Sometime Around Midnight’.

Where to next?
