The rumor mill is abuzz in the music world as there is talk of a new [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Depeche Mode[/lastfm] remix album in the works. However, that is not anything new, the fact that former members Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder collaborating on the new album is what’s getting DM fans all giddy.

Current members Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, and Andrew Fletcher haven’t formally announced such project, but Vince Clarke spilled the beans via his twitter account last month.

Clarke, an original member of DM who left the band in 1982, went on to form the bands [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Yaz[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Erasure[/lastfm]. Wilder, who replaced Clarke, left the band in 1995.

DM fan website Home is reporting that [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]New Order[/lastfm]‘s Bernard Sumner, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Mark Ronson[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Arcade Fire[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Yeah Yeah Yeahs[/lastfm] will also be involved in the remix album.

80s alternative music website slicingupeyeballs.com reports this really isn’t a surprise reunion since Wilder joined DM on stage to perform “Somebody” during a London concert and Clarke is re-teaming with Gore to record a new dance album.

Needless to say, the Depeche Mode faithful is eagerly awaiting the upcoming collaboration. Reunion tour in works? We shall see. Until then, enjoy these videos from Alan Wilder’s side project [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Recoil[/lastfm] and Vince Clarke with Erasure…
