Word on the street is that [lastfm]Van Halen[/lastfm] will appear at an arena/stadium/convention center near you in 2011. Of course that all hinges on how much you take Live Nation Ticketmaster chairman Irving Azoff seriously.
That’s right, in a meeting with analysts, Azoff announced the possible 2011 concert circuit; which did include Van Halen with [lastfm]David Lee Roth[/lastfm].
There is one minor catch… Azoff is Roth’s manager, so it could just be a bunch of hot air. Azoff promised a Van Halen tour last year, but that never came to fruition. The last Van Halen tour in 2008 grossed $93 million for Live Nation.
There have also been rumors that Roth and Van Halen are working on a new studio album, their first since the 1984 album. Even Eddie Van Halen’s wife Janie isn’t convinced. She told Rolling Stone this summer, “What is going around is exactly that, rumors.”
It wasn’t all about Van Halen though, Azoff did announce in the same meeting that [lastfm]Christina Aguilera[/lastfm], [lastfm]Fleetwood Mac[/lastfm] and the cast of Glee would hit a tour near you.
I say cool, but call me when [lastfm]Sammy Hagar[/lastfm] is up there behind the mic. That’s right I’m on the Hagar side of the timeless argument.
I guess I’ll share a couple Roth era videos to calm your nerves until the a tour actually takes shape. Enjoy…
